Hi there, was just wondering if anyone could help with a small problem im having . I have a 2004 BA xr6 falcon and it has randomly decided it doesn't want to start anymore. There is Power still flowing to some parts of the car when the key is placed in the ignition . But doesn't do anything when I try to crank it over. I'm reading a warning light on my dash that suggest it may be the smartsheild immobiliser system has activated. Was just wondering if there is any way of disabling that system or anything else I could try to solve this problem.. Thankyou

Your best start is to plug diagnostic gear into it and see what it is saying is wrong... Either buy one, borrow one or take it to Ford...

Is Ford the only place that can fix this problem or can any odd technician disable my immobiliser? |

to disable the smartshield you will need to put a chip in your PCM -check tech docs for more information-
what is your smartshield light doing? ie. normal flash then flashes fast or stays on ? when you first turn accessory position on does smartshield light flash a code? have you tried another key? is your interior light working? scan for fault codes............. ring around auto elects,mechanics etc.if they have scantool with programming for resetting parameters of PCM and or reprogramming keys(requires 2 keys)...if not FORD.... possible faulty BEM module ,which will require scantool to program (2 keys and reset parameters-) |

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have called many mechanics to come have a look at it and none were successful. Therefore I have just got it towed to the nearest Ford dealership to be fixed.
