hi all,
i've got an au ute that i swapped the standard au motor out and put the n/a xr6 au motor in both motors were running before swap over and now the motor wont turn over i've got all dash lights when ignition is on and no smart shield light but when i try to start i get (!) light showing can someone tell me where i went wrong and how to fix the problem |

Could be a number of things mate. Does the battery have enough charge to turn over? Go back over all the wiring to make sure you didnt miss anything or bump any connections loose, sounds silly but it has happened.

I've double and triple checked everything and definitely got a good battery

what series motor were you originally running & what series motor did you replace it with?? did you replace ALL wiring on the motor [including intake] with what was on ya original motor???

From memory series 2 on both motors and wiring harness in car is original but motor harness is xr, I've checked the difference between the two and only difference is abs wire

so did you set up the new motor with the old loom etc?

Yes I've also tried both ECM bem keys the lot same result

is it auto or manual. have you checked the auto inhibitor. also check all relays especially starter relay.

Manual and checked relays and swapped them around with ones from working donor car relay in cab clicks but ones in engine bay don't also checked all the fuses there ok, I've got a gut feeling that I'll need to reprogram the ECM, also should mention fuel pump isn't kicking in but does work when I bridge it out at relay

(!) is refering to a brake system malfunction? - how many wires have you connected to the starter motor? and have the connected correctly?? |

Everything is connected to where it should be as I left the harness on the engine when I swapped engine as gearbox stayed connected to it, it's like there is no power from cab to engine but power from battery to cab
