Hi all just thinking about doing the thermo fan upgrade on my xg down the track, ive seen a few post about having to buy these switches and kits and running different ecus and what have you. Just thinking out loud here, couldnt i just run them through a fuse and chuck a toggle switch on my dash to save most of this stuffing around?
Thanks for any advice guys |

hi
it would be much better if you can cut out a el thermo fan relay block leaving the wire and plug going to fan motors and leaving wires on the rest of the relay block to join onto. you will need to wire up as el setup and just earth out low speed wire so fans run all time on low speed to keep temperature wether straight to earth or earth with a relay wired to fuel pump so they only work when engine running, then wire high speed to a temperature switch and put a ac relay in so they speed up when ac is on or gets a bit hotter also youll need the following el twin thermo fans el thermo fan relay block cut off leaving the wire and plug all together going to the fans and leaving wire to join onto which gives main power, ign power, main earth and the fan switch earths to join onto some 5-6mm red wire (probably run 2 lots of 5-6mm wire and have 2 seperate fuses like in the au to spread load out a bit. some wire to go to fan switches 5-6mm wire for earths (probably run 2 lots or you can probably get some 8 b&s black wire and run one lot to relay block area with a earth bolt and run all fan main earths to that) fan temperature switches (or you could probably get a xh ecu then you may not need the fan switches as ecu runs them but get switch just incase. if you go xh ecu youll need to get some pins out a ecu plug to add to yours.) another thermo fan relay block to get spare pins out for the ac fan mod Maybe a toggle switch to override fans if they decide not to turn on by themselfs this diagram would help http://members.iinet.net.au/~rmack/images/ELfans.jpg if using fan switches connect wire l/w straight to earth preferably with relay wired to fuel pump so low speed works all time but only engine running to keep at temp then connect wire L to a fan switch that earths out but do the ac mod while there good luck hope it helps |
