I've got a 2006 BF ute but unfortunately it was optioned without cruise control. Anyone know what I need and have to do to fit it with cruise control? Any help would be much appreciated.

Easiest way is to go to a wreckers and find a BF sedan or Wagon or Ute with cruise on it. You will need the wiring harness for connecting the extra brake switch (and the brake switch), a set of switches for the steering wheel. After you have those and have fitted them all, you will need to take the car to either a dealer or a workshop that can activate the cruise for the car or it won't work.

Cheers for that. As a bit of a newbie to this cruise control age where would I find the cruise control brake switch and wiring harness? Would the brake switch wiring harness be a plug and play sort of thing and would the steering wheel switches plug into and mount on the standard steering wheel?

Under the dash there are two brake switches, one is the regular one and the other is for the cruise control. The wiring harness you need is the one that connects to both switches and can be removed from the harness attached to it. The steering wheel switch you need will more than likely be attached to the standard one for the radio volume. It is best to get both switches and you will have to cut one side of the horn pad to fit properly the switches, you will see on the other side of the horn pad how to cut the right side. Make sure you get the BF type switches and the harness form the BF. I hope that will help. |
