as the ea-ed harnesses are hard to get though not impossible if you look around was thinking of possibility of using a ef/el harness in a ed fairmont.

could the ef/el harnesses be modified to work with the ea-ed dash, climate control and other buttons and be made to look like the original setup.

someone on fordmods had a eb harness and made it work with ef dash and climate control so can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work if you had diagrams.

obviously you’d have to cut the ef tail light plugs off and wire the eb/ed ones on and cut cluster plugs off and put the eb/ed ones on and run a single wire out to the eb temp sender and a couple other mods so the eb cluster works.

and also looks like you’d have to cut the ef climate control plugs off and put eb ones on change a few wires to suit the eb setup.

and also have heard power and economy button is reversed in ef model but should be able to wire a relay to switch it back to original direction.

would a eb ecu work with a el harness as people are using a el ecu in a eb with the eb harness when converting to bbm.

Is it a problem using ef or el harness in a ea to ed other than changing dash and tail light and stereo plugs and also a few wires here and there to suit original eb setup.

I cant see why it wouldn't,like you said you will have to change some plugs etc to suit-with wiring diagrams for both you should be able to spot any subtle differences (climate control etc) and make the changes to suit,ECU shouldn't be a problem (gives you the option of using a BBM too),good luck with it -cheers Johnny.

Would the eb ecu work with the el ecu harness as the other way has worked for some people

There’s heaps ed harnesses but not as many in fairmont spec and just had a thought

Think power and economy buttons reversed with ef el xh ecu so spose you could wire a relay to swap the button back to eb spec

Would you get the seperate eb ed fairmont or nc fairlane bum and smartlock module and swap plugs or just use ef el one
