lately i've been driving around and i've noticed what i would call flat spots as i'm trying to accellerate. usually at lower speeds ie. between 30-70, but i'll put my foot down a little and the revs will drop and obviously the car slows rather than picks up. and the response is just poor in general. what's the story? bad plugs? sensors? thanks.

is it in power or economy? in economy mine does that all the time...its not bad...its it tryin to conserve fuel by not changing gears, so it labours a bit....and uses more fuel

go figure

Hey mate, i've had an ef for close to 10years and have always found economy mode a pain in the a***.

There's nothing worse than putting your foot down at 40k's only to have it struggle to 90 in 2nd at 1500rpm.

Edit: In other words, it's not a problem, just don't use economy ;)

it's not in economy mode though. i took it off economy because it was letting the revs drop too low in 4th and making the car shake. thought it was the gearbox, and maybe it is, but having it in power mode eliminates that problem. but yeah, now i have this thing where if i accelerate anywhere from gently to givin it a fair flog, the revs just drop. very gay.

that is gay....cant say ive had a problem like that before....sounds gearbox related tho. If yer at a standing start and give it a bellyfull, does it take off quick or sorta sit around for a bit then go? if its a bit slow eberytwhere to get goin, mite be your plugs/leads...maybe even fuel filter?

sometimes from a standing start it'll launch a little a little delayed and all, but the worst is at medium speeds trying to accelerate. hoping it's not the gearbox cuz i'm really trying to save some money.
