Hi my name is Tyson and I own a 2010 Fg falcon xr6 with the 5r55s 5 speed gearbox and has traveled 165,000 ish kms
I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, when the vehicle goes into lockup in 5th gear at around 60kph there is a drone and a vibration through the whole car but it can mostly been heard from the rear, it’s like a wave noise, if you speed up it goes away as you hit 70 and it you slow down below 60 it gets worse before unlocking the converter, it can be done with cruise control as well. It’s like the engine isn’t revving enough for the situation. I’ve done a atf service and diff has been rebuilt. Engine mounts and gearbox mounts are fine and the dampener or syd is fine. This problem is only noticeable in lock up at 60 and above 70 no vibration can be felt only a small drone which I’m cool with. Just wondering if anybody else has come across this issue.

Thanks Tyson :)

So, it is going into full convertor lock up, in OD, at 60klph? How many revs is that - 800 or so? Surely that is too low a speed to need full OD and lock up? Could that be the issue, the poor old engine is being dragged down to no rpm, and cant pull? Seems wrong to me... 8-)
