G'day folks,

I had bit of knocking noise each time I went over a speed bump and/or the occasional banged up road.

When I changed my front brake pads, I placed my hands on the upper ball joint and noticed movement. For some unknown factor it was slightly loose. I loosened the nut on the retaining bolt and used a large hammer to knock the upper ball joint back down and torqued it back to 90Nm.

Would the upper ball joint be worn out or would the arm holding that holds the ball joint be worn?

Here's a pic

The rubber around your ball joint is cracked and has probably lost most of the grease. I reckon it's just the ball joint that needs replacing.

G'day Shortshift,

Thanks for your reply, good to be reassured it's only the ball joint.

You're right , the rubber has perished and bugger all grease left. There was a lot dry rusty powder came out when I wacked the head of the ball joint with a heavy hammer.
