Hi All,

Recently I have been having an issue with my BF XT falcon. Start it up from cold and the transmission will whine quite noticeably like a power steering pump but only in neutral and park, the sound goes away in drive or reverse, and the selector icon on the dash flashes and car goes into limp home mode. I can drive in third gear for about 5 minutes until the car warms up, then turn the car off and on and then its perfect, no noise, all gears, shifts smooth no limp home mode. I checked the DTC's and it comes up with shift solenoid B error which doesn't seem to match up with the sound I am hearing. I serviced the tranny with new oil and a new filter and took the solenoid out, gave it a clean and could hear it rattling when i shook it so it seems fine. This did not seem to solve the issue. Has anyone had something similar before? Only happens when the oil is cold!

Thanks

I’d be tipping on the oil level not being correct, you need to fill tranny with engine on till it comes out the fill hole, then engage all gears & you will find it needs more. Fluid expands as it heats up so it will usually be worse when cold.
