Hi guys, only have one keyfob for EL Fairmont with smartlock and the keyfob battery is nearly flat. Can I just change the battery in it and it will continue working? or do I need a second keyfob programmed before it goes flat?

Thanks Mads but is that "will be" or "should be" fine as I didn't want to pull the battery then find out I had to program another keyfob first. Never changed battery since I've had car and only ever had the one keyfob for it.

i will say 95% that you WILL BE fine just change the battery.
Programming the Key fobs is as easy as, 1) sit in the car ignition on to ACC and hit the demist button 3x in 3 seconds, the door locks will cycle to indicate it is in training mode ( it may take upto 10 seconds for the locks to cycle) 2) then push a button on the key fob, the locks will cycle to indicate the fob has been learned. repeat step 2 for additional remotes door locks will cycle 2x to indicate second remote. all remotes must be reprogrammed if you have to reprogram a old one or if you replace one.

I think its a similar remote to the EB II. Wont lose the code.

EL keyfob is the same as the EB2, ED, EF & AU1 'keyfobs' .... as long as you don't break something, you should be fine. {USERNAME} wrote: I think its a similar remote to the EB II.
