Yeh mate have same problem on the rite hand front window on mine, changed the left one a few months ago where the cable snapped completley now the rite one is stuffed but it is the motor that hasnt got the balls to lift the window but wth a few hits with a spanner it will start workin but not for long so have to change it soon, be drivin for weeks with no door trim looks s**t and bothered pulling on a wire to open the door lol. get them brand new on ebay $45(aftermarket ones though)and lubricate the runners and rubbers where the window slides when you put the new reg in, i think that is why they s**t themselves to begin with, cos after years of operating we tend to forget we need to refreshen the lube in them cos you cant see them.and yeh good idea to do the lot in one hit for piece of mind, even if the old ones are workin you dont know how old they are and when there gonna go.worst case keep old ones as spares.

What i learnt from doing the same as you guys is that, at least, on Fairlanes/Ltds and not sure if on Fairmonts too... the glass is thicker and therefore heavier, my driver's side (which gets used the most obviuosly) one day just snapped the plastic runner on the arm so i went ahead and bought a new one from Ford... and then changed the window for a Falcon one which are a lot lighter and thinner making it run up and down a lot better also extending the life of the regulator.
Cheers

-GAS-MAN- wrote: spray silicon down the sides of the glass, where the glass fits into the rubbers Works a treat, works instantly, no screw drivers and it doesnt f**k up. Done it on two cars now for years, every twelve months (usually summer when it needs it) and it doesnt clog, in my experience. Thanks for this info. Lifesaver!!! |

Does anybody know where to get replacement power window regulator as a kit in Melbourne? Purchased years ago in Melbourne but seem to only be from Qld now. I need for EL drivers and EB drivers & passenger. (also posted under "Replacement Window Regs & Motors)
edit: I found them at SSS in Brunswick ## RESOLVED ## |
