can someone give me a rough idea where the oil pressure sensor is?
im gunna put in a xr dash soon and need to replace it with a sender. is it as simple as swapping them, or is it more of a pain in the a***? thanks ryan |

Its just below the head, about half way along the motor. Be prepared though, its a real pain to try to change em:P

i changed mine last week and it was a 10 minute job if u got the right toools. they are about half way along the block below the intake manifold

just in front and above the left engin mount .. have fun replacing it, it can be a prick without the right tools

Now that I have done one (which took a long time to do), I could do another in a couple minutes easy. It's just took time to figure out the best mehtod of getitng to it as it's in an awkward spot and all that. You need a 1" (I think socket). I used a ratchet with the longer extensions and bendy uni joint thingo.
It's near where the oil level dipstick. It's just a matter of unscrewing the sender and screwing in the sensor. |

I would recommend going out and loaning or buying your self the deep socket you need to do it properly. Getting the old one out isn't that hard but putting the sendor in, which is alot longer, is tricky and prone to breaking without the proper tools.
I picked up one for about $20 and made the job quite litterally 30 seconds to do!

You need a deep socket. I couldn't get the sender out with out it. I got a King Chrome Heavy Duty one from Sparco for $15.00. They were out of stock of the normal ones which are even cheaper.

they are different sizes, but the threads are all the same .. obviously .

The socket size is 1 1/16", and you will need a deep socket. As has been said with the right tool the job is very easy

I just went a checked and I definately used a 1". THat was to remove the stock EF GLi oil pressure sender. |

Hey Guys.
Just added an oil pressure sender to my Bf RTV. As described above the sender is below the inlet manifold just in front and above the left engine mount. I got a SAAS adapter so i could keep the original sender and add the pressure sender. Ramps made the job easy as access is from below. No need to remove the filter. Socket ratchet, uni, small extension, 21mm spanner, 21 mm deep socket and some loctite. Job took about 30 minutes of not hurrying and all done. |
