Was wondering about vans and trailers with reverse lights wether all new ones had to have reverse lights as found this on http://caravanersforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=64159

(7 Pin Male will most definatly fit a 12 pin female, eg all PX Rangers are 12 pin. Where 12 pin will come to the fore is all new trailers will have to have reverse lights. All semi trailers are now compliant with this after July 2015 so the aux wire in a 7 pin will have to be used for reverse as it is intended not powering up breaksafe ect)

Is a 12 pin for a trailer only needed if you got a brakeaway system and need a extra output if all new trailers have to have reverse lights
