Hello,
Just wondering, the drive belt on this engine which does so much, when should it be replaced, if ever?
The Ford manual does not give any indication.
My ute has done 78,000km.
Any comments greatly appreciated.

Check to see if there are any cracks on the inside of the belt. If it HAS cracks across the face of the belt (inside) then I would be for sure replacing it.

Thankyou.
Standard belt inspection I guess.
I just wondered what the life expectancy of this thing is?

They last a while. If you change it maybe do the idler pulley as well up the top.
After a while they can start to rattle.

I have seen these belts FAIL on cars in Warranty, AU, BA,BF,FG. They aren't that dear and a new set of pulleys would be useful also. The EF,EL,AU pulleys fitt the FG.
