Does anyone know what type of light is used in the aircon switches?
I've noticed mine seemed to be very dim of late and on one of the switches it's black as. Thanks Peter |

Mad2,
Thanks mate, I might have to take mine to those Autobarn techies that fitted the new radio cd player, The original Ford radio was removed , I tried to remove the new radio myself but cant do so as they must have placed a fixture to it that I can't see. If I can get the new radio out then I can do the rest. I can then replace the clock light at same time. |

Hi Bondy do you have a pic of the AC switch in question ?
If its the one i have in mind the light inside is a wheat grain 3mm globe similar to whats used in the illuminated power window switches. They are not easy to find. I believe Altronics recently started selling them.

Hi 93EB,
No not yet. The AC switch is still attached to the aircon console panel. I have not had the opportunity to remove the panel as the new radio was installed by a techie at Autobahn 3 years ago. Buggered if I know how to remove that radio from the console. Another panel was made to accommodate the new radio. If I can work out how to remove that radio without damage to the panel in the process then I can commence to remove the parts that's keeping the aircon switches in place, I need to change those lights over as well, otherwise its black at night. I could take a photo of the AC switch as is insitu if that's any use? Bondy |

Yep they are the wheat grain globes sometimes known as wire ended globes.

Thanks for the reply and pics people.
Looks very much the same globes and base for the Instrument Cluster Panel. Looks like I'll have to get a few more of those lights from Bursons. Reptiles charge too much. From memory Narva makes them. Bondy |

I have been unable to remove the console which my aircon switches are attached. The main stumbling block is the radio that was installed by Autobahn upgrade team.
I had the Factory ford Radio C/D player removed as it would not play mp3 file format music. Can LED's be used to replace those miniature bulbs, if so, what would be the correct type to get, would it be T4 , T4.2 T4.5 ?? Thanks |
