I have tried to reset the fault codes on my EF XR6 at least 15 times, but they won't clear.

I am using the procedure according to the manual: attach bridge wire to pins A and B, turn key to On, when codes start to appear, remove the bridge wire. It should come up with code 111 to confirm it's clear, but it comes up with the codes it already had. What am I doing wrong?

Also, where are the codes stored? I have swapped ECUs three times, and it comes up with the same codes each time, so the codes can't be stored in the ECU.

Thanks for any and all help.

With the OBD1 scan tool for the EA-ED & EL, the instructions say that disconnecting it before the scan is finished in diagnostic mode will clear any fault codes. Can you try that? I'm not sure if the EF ECU will operate the same.

AFAIK the codes are stored in the ECU memory and should be cleared before each scan (or you are looking at faults that may have been fixed).
