hi all,
this was raised at a party i was at on the weekend... my car is a series one EL and had a 3.25 diff fit by the previous owner... the speedo underreads (ie. at 100kph indicated on the cluster it is actually only doing about 90-91 kph) does this mean my car would not have done as many kilometers as the odometer says so? (ie has the car done less milage than it says) not something i had considered before |

any ideas? i suppose it depends on where the odometer gets it information from

short answer yes, but how significant of a difference, depends.
how many k's since the diff was fitted etc.

problem is i have no idea, what sort of difference in milage would we be talking from 3.27 to 3.45 over lets say 100,000 actual?

Transmission could have been changed too.
Your car may have a speedo driven gear to suit a 3.08 diff, hence the lower actual K's. Here's a guide for the correct gear to be fitted. gearbox-suspension-brake-driveline-f4/ef-el-1994-1998-speedo-sender-drive-driven-gear-t71134.html?hilit=driven And as above yes, your car has actually done LESS k's than indicated, bare in mind MOST people change instruments in a car, especially if there has been diff change. Police clusters are also good for correcting the gauge documents.php?d=14
