I'm seeking a 2nd hand ECU for my Ford AU2 Year 2000 , on the back of the boot there is a forte badge, whether the vehicle is a forte I would not know and how to check if it is.
Regarding ECU, what is meant by make sure the numbers are the same when purchasing a 2nd hand ECU? Thanks. Bondy |

hi bondy. ignore the forte badge as what is relevant is the numbers on the sticker stuck to the ecu. currently unable to show you a pic of what i mean. also is it a series1 or a series2 AU ie what key/alarm fob does it use?
getting/using same numbers means there 'should' be less problems starting/running car. |

Hi Mad2,
Ok, I didn't realise that. Mine is an AU2. I have not checked mine as yet. I believe to access it I have to remove the inner panel near the door. I think it might be popped rivetted in position. I have no idea what drill bit is needed as yet. I assume it needs to be removed from the fixture to check the number? Would I be looking for a serial code or a different code number? Thanks Does it need to be reattached with rivets or self tapping metal screws? |

I think it might be popped rivetted in position. - remove cover at the base of passenger 'A' pillar (at feet). i'm not sure if it's a screw or pop rivet. to remove if a pop rivet, knockout centre steel pin then any size bit can be used to drill rivet out. ONLY drill the head of the rivet if using large bit as otherwise you won't be able to rerivet it back together. I have no idea what drill bit is needed as yet. - mentioned above. I assume it needs to be removed from the fixture to check the number? - believe so BUT i don't have my wreck local so i cannot confirm. Would I be looking for a serial code or a different code number? - not sure what it's called & currently not able to give you a pic to confirm how to check. checkout the thread talking about ecu/catch codes as think that will give you a better idea of what i'm trying to say. may need to troll thru a err few pages lol. Thanks Does it need to be reattached with rivets or self tapping metal screws? - ecu will need to be reattached as it was. or anything thats easier as long as it holds it fimly as it must not come loose. comments are above in your comments |
