Hi all.
Went to change a faulty brake light bulb and found the socket was broken so I sourced another one. After fitting it I saw that the taillights and brake lights weren't working on both sides.

I have checked fuses and swapped the tail light relay with no luck. I also have no instrument cluster illumination or icc/clock light. I pulled the combination switch apart and can't see any broken wires either. What is strange is that the smart shield doesn't flash and the ignition round light stays on with lights turned off. I had to disconnect the battery incase it goes flat? I am in the process of trying to fix other things on the car so I can get it registered.

Any help much appreciated.

For the brakes lights maybe look at the brake switch ? :?
For the illumination issues id be checking the fuses if not you have done already.

Bridge tail relay contacts 3 & 5 should make tail dash and front park lights work if not check you have 2 power supplies at relay with a test light feeds from batt 2 fuse under bonnet
Does tail relay click when switch turned to park position
Check rear earth near fuel flap this should not affect front lights working however

Check for power in and out of stop switch with test light
Check connections behind left kick panel

Was anything else done prior to changing light socket
