hi, i just joined and trying to help my son how do we remove the GEAR KNOB to remove the central console, i just can't work it out

From memory there's a nut just under the shift knob on the shaft, loosen that off then the shift knob should unscrew like a manual gear knob.

Been a while since I've messed with EF / EL though so I could be wrong.
