OK, so we've finally got the dreaded low-speed clunk in the front left. I've yet to lift the thing up to check it out, but after reading AFF, it's clear that it's going to be the BallJoints.
If this is what it turns out to be, I'm going to take a stab at doing this myself if anyone is interested. So far I've found the following info Re: parts: SX 3044 A ARM ASSY - FRONT SUSPENSION, RH SX 3045 A ARM ASSY - FRONT SUSPENSION, LH SX 3078 A ARM ASSY - FRONT SUSPENSION, RH, LOWER FRONT SX 3079 A ARM ASSY - FRONT SUSPENSION, LH, LOWER FRONT SX 3082 A ARM ASSY - FRONT SUSPENSION, RH, LOWER REAR SX 3083 A ARM ASSY - FRONT SUSPENSION, LH, LOWER REAR I'll take it that 3044 and 3045 are the upper control arms. The prices I'm seeing are over $300 EA for the Upper and front lower arms, and about $250 for the lower rear. As for aftermarket, the only aftermarket option I've seen are the PAJA Roadsafe units: Company website: http://www.oem-products.com/ Territory Arms: http://www.oem-products.com/f/RAP042A_b ... j3396R.pdf And someone selling what looks like a full set of 4 x lower PAJA Roadsafe control arms on eBay for $350 plus shipping: http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trk ... ball+joint Lukeyson |

the lower ball joints are cast into the lower control arm, so the whole arm needs to be replaced (STUPID) and they cost well into the $300 area ea. fitting them is fairly simple, just need a few common sockets (21,19 extensions and uni) and a hammer. when u buy the new lower control arms there is 2 bushes that also need to be pressed into the control arm (come with the kit) so u may need access to a press, or at least a vice.

I wonder if they've fixed this on the FG or if the problem is systemic to all vehicles with the Virtual Pivot Control Link? I finally jacked up our Terry yesterday and gave the assembly a good workout - no loose balljoints that I could find. Back out on the road and I couldn't reproduce the noise - but I've heard it for myself and the symptom is almost identical to what guys have reported when theirs have failed. Back to the drawing board for now. Lukeyson |

There is also a ball joint for the lower front arm part number SX 3395A and is $192.00 It is in the Knuckle.
The Upper Arms are $387.00 retail and you can also buy the ball joint for it and is $52.00 part number BA 3263A. Hope you find your trouble soon, we used to sell heaps of those lower arms for these. |
