Whatever you do, DONT get the RACV to look at it.

They will probably tell you its the ECU or injectors or something totally unrelated.

Well it seems that the cars have some things common to them all that go wrong ,my car has had ecu replaced a couple of years ago as well so should be ok ,as i said last night i will have to wait and see if cleaning the sensor fixes problem i hope it does but all things were starting to point to that sort of problem rather than a parts problem similar to a mower when they get wet. By the way xplode how many km's are on your car? :?

Either fuel pump (if you can't hear it start up when you click over to reds), or the ignition coil. My ED did this in April and the problem was the coil. Unfortunately it took 8 weeks and over $1000 to diagnose and fix!!

My Mates XG Ute pulled this kind of s**t and it was the Interior light Fuse.
The strange part is that the Interior light fuse also controls the Smart lock.

I'm not sure about your model, but have a look at the Interior light and see if it's working.

Ignition coil IS simple! So simple in fact, that the auto elec I took my car to knew what the problem was straight away....NOT! He just replaced EVERYTHING (even the stuff that I told him was NEW and/or had been changed SINCE the car stopped running (eg leads, dizzy, etc etc). He even installed a special "Tickford distributor" ($400) that apparently "XRs HAVE to have". Strange...my car's always run with a normal one before
He eventually put in a new coil too, and the thing started. Pfft.

While I was fiddling around myself trying to get it going, everyone was saying that the problem is definitely the Smartlock. It wasn't though, cuz we simulated immobilisation and it was very different. If your car doesn't have Smartlock, then that's definitely not the problem

hey chicken i think i remember your case, and your car wouldn't start.
good to see you have it fixed, but for $1000, must be a real good coil
have you done any tests to see what is happening?
it coudl be lots of things, try to eliminate things and you will solve the problem.
