Hey just wanted to ask if a fairlane back seat fits straight into the back of a fairmont with the same bolts?
i want more bucket like seats in the back and noticed the fairlane/LTD offer that compared to the normal fairmont bench like seat has anyone tried this yet? also if im buying and wanting to fit a new SVO steering wheel for an EF does the airbag go off when i go to open the steering wheel to change it? would i need a professional to do that or would it cost too much?

a) - no, the 'mont -> 'lane is not a straight swap, although it can be done pretty easy - its due to the SWB/LWB differences - the bolsters will need to be recovered, and due to the fact the LWB bolsters are bigger there is enough fabric
b) disconnect the battery in order that the airbag doesn't go off - i have written a doco here, and can email/post it up once telstra fix the phone line @ home so i can get on the internet there! you will need a T-50 torx bit though, as well as a 10mm socket!

SWB = short wheel base I'll let you guess what LWB means!

so what you're telling me is i cant use the fairlane bolsters?
coz that part of the car in the fairlane is longer??? hmmm i wanted a more 'bucket seat' look in the backseat... so is it better to just get my rear seats that i have at the moment re-upholstered and the cushion designed in a way i want it to look if the bolsters from the fairlane dont fit with the backseat???

nup - fairlane bolsters won't fit i'm afraid! just recover your SWB bolsters, as the LWB seats will bolt in with a few extra holes drilled in you'll be looking at a lot more $$$ to recover your entire rear seat!

yeah but i was looking at recovering the whole seat anyway
coz im doing up my whole interior so its best just to keep what i got and modify it? true?

depends! if you can get a LWB interior in good nick for cheap, then go with that - if you want something custom (i.e. black leather etc) then your only option is to get it recovered - but at a fair cost

yeah im looking at black leather interior anyway
so best to keep what i got and modify it to what i want a lot easier for me i suppose instead of looking for new seats just modify what i got and see how much it will cost
