As far as I'm aware any ecu from EA to AU should work except for the EF which has coil packs. Just make sure you get the appropriate Auto or Manual ecu. There should be plenty of posts on here about hot to retrofit other ecu's. El or au ecu's may require some small modifications...

Negative on the EA ecu for 4 speed auto as they ran a separate controller for the 4speed auto
correct on the EF ecu not working
IIRC AU went back to coil pack ignition, and was also the change over from smartlock to smartshield in the series 2

Best bet would be a EB or ED ecu

I believe it has smartlock. So EB or ED ECU should do the job then ??
Any idea of part numbers to look for ??
