I'm sure 1600 dollars isn't just to justify the custom uprights, most will be happy with second hand calipers over new etc. well there is also a caliper offset plate thats required. upc have a custom billet hub to suite a floating disc aswell. and race brakes also use a caliper offset plate but use aftermarket el gt rotors which are about $300 ea the problem is i highly doubt race brakes or upc will suply the modified uprights, offset plate and hubs ect seperate.. |

Thats why I was looking into the possibility of a bolt in k-frame that will take the AU lca

If they would make a reasonably priced kit with modified uprights/stubs, hub adapters and the caliper bracket, inc bolts required, I'd be up for a kit, as I'd source the other bits I need from either the wreckers or new if required, like the brake pads. Might get a good set of s/h rotors off a wreck...

As Jay said...
I'd be keen to even if it was Pov pack BA gear... But regardless of anything I want to retain E series offset... If the kits changes the offset I'm not interested... I like my AJR's and have no reason to go to AU offset... To date the only have reasonable way I ever see it happening is to purchase the gear out of EL GT or a FBT on the rare occasion you see one being wrecked out... And the odd occasion it has come up I haven't had the money to spare... Cheers, Tim

The EL GT rotors are available thru DBA, we sold a set to a trade customer at work recently, brake gear was EL GT stuff on a FBT.
I thought the spindles were just modified like the kits that get the "ears" lopped off? As for calipers, who made them, pbr? Cheers ToranaGUy

Really?
I know the rotors are available new... But as for the calipers I wasn't sure about... And the spindles I assumed were a specially made number? So std spindles can be modified to run an TE50 caliper (same as EL GT / FBT)? If it is that easy it suddenly seems to be an afforable kit you can buy in pieces as you can afford them? Surely not though... ?

Don't quote me, but I thought the spindles were just cast without ears, I could be very wrong about that tho. Been a long time since I have seen the gear in the flesh (other than rotors lol). If we knew who made the calipers, they might still be available NOS, but would probably be pricy.

yea the e series caliper ears are choped off and an adaptor/offset plateis made up for the caliper to mount up to the e series upright, the el gt upright is actually different to std e series..thats why the aftermarket kits make the plate up so the caliper is out further to clear the 330mm rotor..

So Troy, The EL GT has the holes cast out further to eliminate this "spacer" the after market ones use?
I thought they must have been different... So many people talk about them as though they're a unique item... Cheers, Tim

Thanks for adding that Troyman, I didn't realize the bolt holes were actually in a different spot.
I wish I didn't have so many things on the go atm, I have a wicked little idea in my head atm, and I know where I can get some bits for free to play with too...... Cheers ToranaGuy
