Hi All

I purchased a Windsor 5.0l from an Au from marketplace not long ago. Unfortunately I have been left scratching my head around what I have exactly. I receiving the motor, engine loom and wiring plus ecu.

My plan is to put this into my XF.

I was told this was out of an XR8. I got the engine number and called Ford, they reckon it’s out of a Fairlane. So this was my first disappointment.

I started checking some other things and noticed the ecu. I searched the number and it has WANA at the top. Checked online and it appears this a 6cyl ecu…

I am now worried about the harness that I have as well as the additional wiring I have which includes the fuse box.

My question is how can I tell if my loom is from the 6cyl or v8? What are the differences.

Also on the loom that goes to the fuse box, I can confirm it has a 3 pin plug that goes into the alternator. I have heard the v8 has a different alternator? So I would assume this loom is ok?

However the loom that connects to the engine with the red plug and goes back into the ecu, I am worried about this one :(

Appreciate any assistance.

Note: I have gone back to the owner but have not received an answer so far :(

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yeah definitely know the ecu is not for this engine based on the code.

My problem now is the wiring harness. Eg what are differences between a 6cyl and 8cyl ecu harness and how can you tell the difference?

sorry but that i don't know. other than the coil for the 6 cylinder is mounted down near the passenger engine mount.

The V8 Harness will have the MAF plug for a start.
6cyls are Speed density and therefore don't have a MAF.
What is the catch code on the EEC connector? it's a 4 character code like for example; 12RB.

F5SB is the 4 digit code.

Its definately a V8 harness from what I can see. Thanks for the top on the MAF sensor.

F5SB is not a catch code I've seen before but I read your first post and you said the code is WANA. If this is a 6cyl code then it's likely all of it is from a six cylinder. Apart from the MAF connector you with also have a U-shaped engine harness with 8 injector connectors instead of a straight harness with 6 injector connectors.

It seems WANA is a six cylinder Futura EEC.
