Ford has announced plans to extend production of its GT supercar for a further two years. Unlike traditional supercar makers that strictly limit supply in order to drive up demand, Ford will double the production length of the GT in order to satisfy its customers. Initially the company said it would only build the GT for two years, but after more than 7000 applications for the 500 cars it had a change of heart. That means while 6000 potential customers will still miss out, Ford hopes the extra cars will keep more blue oval fans happy. "While we can't build enough Ford GTs for everyone who has applied, we are going to produce additional vehicles in an effort to satisfy more of our most loyal Ford ambassadors," explained Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. "We want to keep Ford GT exclusive, but at the same time we know how vital this customer is to our brand." Ford said customers who were on the current wait list will get the supply for year three of production, while the final year will go to those who missed out initially and new applicants who can apply in 2018. source: drive.com.au
