Hi,
I'm having problems with my transmission. I got every other gear except 3rd and 4th? I have enquired a few places about transmission rebuilds and what not and have been quoted up $5500. Can someone please give some advice on what is the best option? The car has only done 121000kms.

Thanks.

Sounds electrical to me more than a box failure. You need to at least get a scan done and see which error codes come up for a start and start reading the possible causes of the codes and go from there.
Can be even ECU as well.

Cheers for that information mate. I went to 5 different mechanics and they all told me different things. I had one even say is it worth it?

Hey mate. Got the car all done. It turned out to be the transmission after all.

Thanks.

Hey, sounds like a frustrating issue with your transmission, especially with only 121,000 kms on the clock. If you’re missing 3rd and 4th but have the other gears, it could be an issue with the shift solenoids or a valve body problem rather than needing a full rebuild. Sometimes a transmission service, like replacing the fluid and inspecting the pan for debris, can give clues about internal wear. It might be worth getting a second opinion from a transmission specialist, as $5,500 is a big investment. Hopefully, it’s something simpler—good luck!
