normal approach describes two u shape pieces of coat hanger wire
as prescribed method has failed is there any alternative?

what kind of car ir it
from the sound of things u need these keys which r u shaped but have grooves cut in to the end any stero shop should have them

if it's an au you can use welding rods just cut them up and poke them in the holes and push hard untill it comes free and then pull the headunit out ,did it on a mates car yesterday

thanks for reply i am not sure how to reply but here is the details i omitted to supply 1999 mod au falcon fantastic sound but i would like to substatute my sony radio which includes a 10 stack cd cont
a helpfull car radio tec tried unsuccessfully to oblidge hensce my problem

there not coat hanger wire, its got a little groove and bullet head that click into place and latches onto the deck as you yank it out. Normal coat hanger wire wont do it bc its too weak and no grooves.
Try some fine screw drivers and push them outwards but you'll need someone else to wedge something between the deck to get it out while you 'unlock' it - bit fiddly and annoying :evil:

mmm

i tried for ages to get my AU head unit out * to fit cd player *
even the ford factory toosl could not do it

when u use the wire you can push the clips to 1 side

so even teh right tools will not work

only solution.... break the HU that is in there around the sides with a screwdriver and hammer
