Oh s**t I've created a monster!
You also need their special rocker covers @ $129pr. Your Genies will fit but they will strangle these heads. You'd need 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" primaries to take advantage of these heads. For your application better stick with your 40p's or change to some smaller port volume aftermarket ally heads. Pete. |

Yeh, I noticed that you have to get their (very boring looking) covers.
So you wouldn't recommend them for my application? After having a read about them, its pretty hard to not want to bolt them on tomorrow! So I guess I'm looking for a smaller capacity intake runner to keep airspeed up for my low-end torque requirements?

Yeah they do look pretty damn nice, would be perfect for a high reving 347 package but they would probably won't be the best down low. The GT40P's would be your best bet IMO, from my understanding Herrod used them for their 250-300kw stroker engine packages, and with some small modifications like what my heads have done for their 330 packages.

I just dont want to spend too much time or money on these GT40P's and then find im ripping them off in 6 months when I realise I could've pulled some extra power through the range with some Z304A or X305's. Both of those heads are appealing to me at the moment
While im not chasing any stupid power figures, dont want a high reving monster and I dont want to crack the fragile windsor.. anyone who bolts in a stroker is obviously looking for a few more herbs I might quit the window shopping and have a chat to the guy who would be doing the headwork on the GT40P's.

Yeah for sure the aftermarket heads are always a good option, just obviously have to weigh up the power to $$$ factor.
BTW, my heads may be up for sale next week if you choose that path. Already got $1k worth of work on them, but at them moment I am looking to decompress my motor and the 58cc heads are a bit of a pain. |

yeh im kinda wonderin the same thing... keep gt40ps or buy a set of edelbrocks..
the herrod heads are gt40ps, but they're CNC machined to accept bigger valves etc, and that process costs $1500.. im very tempted to sell my gt40ps for edelbrock alloys.. probs cost me about 1000 in the exchange, and the edelbrocks should burn a wee bit mroe efficient too, so more power/economy...

For some reason the Edelbrocks don't excite me.
I should probably go out and buy one of those good 5.0L dyno books, and read up about some possible combo's, although I'm guessing there isnt too much 347 specific data in there.

well either edelbrocks or twisted wedges...
il be very interested to see how your project comes together, coz i wont be far behind you...(in building up a stout motor, at the track? well we'll see ) as far as the 5.0 dyno book goes, i'd buy it then go by a x+y principle.. ie 200cfm heads for a 302 mite warrant 230cfm for the 347 equivilent.

Unfortunatley the chambers are alittle small for blown engines..
A 68cc chamber would be nice..I guess if you are serious you'd fit dished pistons....I had to go with 27cc dish with 60cc heads on a little stroker....
