I just noticed my central locking button on my dash no longer works properly. Takes like 10 presses for it to register.

What would be the fix for this? I'm a semi-noob, but I'm assuming it might just be a dodgy fuse?

New Battery? Nope, afaik the battery is fine. It's only like 4 months old, new battery and alternator.

I meant the battery in the remote, mine does this when it needs a new battery.

Does it lock/unlock normally with the keyfob ?? If so, take out the central locking switch, pull the plug, momentarily short the two connectors for a second, do this a couple of times - doors should lock/unlock, if that's the case switch is a bit dodgy, if not problem lies deeper.

sounds like the clip/loom behind the facia might be a bit dodgy, take off the facia and take a look at it, might be nearly hanging off for some strange reason.

definately don't think it would have anything to do with key fob battery and battery cause he said that its the button in the car.......if it sometimes works everynow and again, its obviously not completely stuffed so must just be a bad connection

Thanks guys, yeh, the keyfob for the remote central locking works fine. I have no idea how long this button has been playing up, only just noticed it, rarely use it.

Does the facia come off easily to have a look behind the button? I'm spending the weekend stripping my car stereo and fixing it up and tuning it, so I'll have a look at the same time.

Cheers

If its not the wirng or the switch, it may be BEM related.

I know that I must push my buttons firmly and not just a quick press to make things work. It seems like the BEM has a check to make sure you just didnt bump the button. I've checked plugs and changed switches and its not them.

Does other funny things as well. Every now and then when I press the boot switch it tries to lock the doors. Something funny happening in the BEM i suppose.

Problem occured again this morning, with slightly worse consequences this time! Went to the carwash, pushed boot release button and got out shut doors (keys still in ignition). BEM got it's wires crossed and locked all doors rather than opened boot. When i realised the boot wasnt open, went to open a door and found out they were locked as well! doh!

Phone call to home and spares were delivered (1.5hour drive though) and the queue of people at the carwash waiting to use it while i stood there reading a magazine was a bit embarrasing!!
