Under pressure, water itself won't become steam and has a higher boiling point. With coolant, the boiling point gets even higher.. However, I have to say tickford_6 is right, water has better thermal properties than coolant. The advantages of coolant is however, it includes additional additives that prevent rust and corrosion in the radiator, engine and the heater.

yeah, he coudl be right, probably is, but i am goin based on what i have been told, by someone who should know.

Well go slap that person up side the head, they are wrong
Water alone will be more affective at heat transfer than that of water and coolant. However if one adds Water Wetter to water it has an even better heat transfer ability with the added bonus of corrosion protection and all that bollocks
