The boot in my sisters '98 EL Futura leaks water when there's a huge downpour. Water has built up on the mat under the LHS speaker on passenger side. Checked rubbers and it looks pretty good to me. I pulled back the moulded wheel arch material, above left of the spare wheel and the plate that is screwed down on that side, to the base of the boot is completely rusty. Water had been dripping in there unoticed for what looks like years to me.
To compare I checked it with mine and although mines older with rubber that doesn't look as neat as hers, mines perfectly dry, and that same plate thats rusty in her boot, is in 100% perfectly painted condition in mine. Any ideas and anyone had that happen to them on that side, where should we look first do you think? Look like a design issue to me, but I might be very wrong??? |

Do what I do
Get an assistant, powerful torch and climb into the boot and close it. Get the assistant to spray all around the boot, wheel arch, above the diff and fuel tank, tail lights, everywhere with a hose and look for where the water is coming from. When you find where it's coming from, fix it. |

Aha, thanks guys. My brother in-law didn't want to climb in the other day but f**k it, I'll get in there for him when I get down there next.
I just wanted to see if any of you guys had an obvious place to look first. Cheers. |
