Guys,

Needs to have the 5500 redline tacho. All others are 5000

Battery snorkle is an ED thing. I had the same in my XR8 and my fairmont

Redline is at 5500 for V8's. My EDXR8 (not sprint) has a 5500 redline. 5000 was for 6's.

I would wish you luck... but I want that car!!!

I was just on the phone to the owner a few mins ago, and I was telling him that I was really insulted by some of the stuff that has been said in this thread. He saw this thread this morning, and was happy I jumped in to defend his car.

Now Brad - if you are watching .... SELL ME THE CAR!!!!

hehe

Seriously though - Brad - the guy who owns the sprint, also used to own my fairmont. and if anyone has seen my fairmont - they will know how good condition it is in.
I was at the creek 2 weeks ago doing some training for cams, and an insurance investigator was there. He saw my car, and said its the best condition ED Fairmont he has ever seen, and offered me money right there for it.

thanks alot guys! my mind is now completely at ease... xr8chic, when i asked about the airbox, i meant am *I* a hack for thinking its a V... i've spoken to the seller, and i'm really happy with how the car sounds and has been treated. I'm more determined then ever to get the car now, so sorry xr8chic!!
bdennis, i know about the handles, my cobalt blue fairmont has a chronic case of "faded handle"...
also battery snorkel isn't just a sprint thing, battery in my fairmont is boxed and with a snorkel identical to the sprints.
and yeah modifying it is definately not a mention on my list of priorities. about the only "modification" i'd think of is a car alarm, but i dont think ill ever leave it anywhere unsafe anyway so its moot point.
i think the drive back from sydney when/if (i dont want to say if) i fly up to get it will be the most exciting time of my life.. again thanks alot for all your help, if all goes well in a week so or you'll be reading a thread titled "I HAVE A SPRINT!!!" :D

don't take any of the things that were said to offence. It's a sad fact that in this world there are dodgy pricks out there, and while it definately doesn't apply to this car and it's present owner now, it's better to be safe then sorry.
I've heard of too many people being burnt buying cars. It's better to err on the side of caution then jump in head first.
Saying that, I really hope i buy this car, and don't worry, if i do it won't be the last you see of it!

There are some dodgy pricks out there.
One of my mates bought a old Nissan Skyline for 3 grand, the thing is probably worth about 900 bucks if he is lucky. f**k dodgy bastards.

This car has NEVER been in an accident. its not a "hack", no damage - this is the real deal.

The car is stock as - so its mega slow, and the exhaust sounds like s**t, but hey - thats how tickford made em.

xr8chic - compared to your ed theres prolly quite a few cars that are slow but this sprint sounds in good nic so should be able to dip into 14's.

i have not had any problems with my sprint, except for a fuel pump and water hoses, which is normal for a 10 year old car, the only problem ive heard is that alot of maunal sprints have vibration at 4500+, the reason y which i have found out now is the harmonic balancer, theres the stock v8 ones, and sprints rev harder, and manuals suffer more, i just changes mine to a powerbond race one, and have not had any problems, the only other problem is specialty parts, ull be paying alot for original eg sprint maf from ford expect to pay 2000
