What are your opinions on my next upgrade to my car Stereo.

- I currently have an IDMAX 12â€￾ sub which is rated at 1,000rms. AWESOME sub very linear respones, the best SQ sub I have heard
- My amp is capable of delivering 2,000rms

I am considering the following options

Option 1
Upgrade all wiring in my system to 0 gauge, + all new Stinger Terminals on front & rear batterys + Soundstream 40 Farad Cap (I can one pretty cheap).
Retail for that stuff is approx $2,000 - $2,200

I currently do not have any voltage drop issues but with the system running hard all day at shows it might be good insurance that there will be no voltage problems that may lead to amps clipping and destroying speakers etc….. The cap will also look great in the boot and fill a spot left when I remove the EQ and may also provide some stiffening benefit (I know that is a debatable point)

Option 2
Buy another IDMAX12 sub and re-building the box. That is going to be a fair amount of work as the battery and sub are all together and if I’m re-doing it I will do it properly, 12mm bullet proof glass backing to show of IDMAX’s etc…

Now this option will look great but will take A LOT more time and effort and the question is, is it worth it (hands up whose helping to do it)

I do not need another sub as it’s an SQ car but there is nothing better than rocking up at a show and winning the SQ award then punching a 140db burst to be amoungst the numbers with the SPL guys too.

Cost will end up being approx $1,200 + a lot of my time or about $2,200 to get it all done for me….

What are your thoughts?

I think you should go with option 1 personally! :) That sub looks cool as btw! How much does one of those buggers retail for?

I dare say thats a very nice price for whats claimed to be a very nice sub, cheaper than some of the RF offerings.

What capacity enclosure are you running ?
