Basically it seems that the only reason they could put the SV6 over the XR6 is because of the 5 speed auot providing better acceleration due to gear ratios and number of gears and better economy. It'd be very interesting to see them compare manual ones and better still compare them when the Falcons are fitted wiht the up coming 6 speed auto. |

All Ford needs to do now is get the something about the GT/GT-P (GT HO) to compete with HSV's top cars. The BA turnaround 3 years later is still going strong for Ford, says a fair bit.

My dad has a BA XR6, and he got a BA XT for a hire car up in qld, he said there is a notable difference between the two, he said the XR has more pick up and go, and better response, and pretty much his handles well, and is much nicer to drive. But if he didnt have the XR he said he would want an XT or above (below the XR models though).......
The should change a few little bits and pieces between the XR and XT, to make the XR fasteras it has been in the past, its not right that a base model should be faster then a so called performance model.

I wouldnt call the the XR6 a performance model on the new BA range. Its more of a visual upgrade, looks cool and handles slighty better. If you want a performance car...jump into an XRT6 or XR8. The base XR6 is for people who wanna look cool, but dont have the dosh to go fast

That XR6TURBO goes Hard but looks cool as my Wifes Boss bought a brand new custom one 2 weeks ago and now has only 325km on the clock and he has already got bragging rights at having chopped a VX SS Holdung Ute by a car length.

The last issue of MOTOR put the F6 Typhoon up against the 6.0 LS2 Clubsport.... On paper the Clubbie was quicker from a standing start, but only because it has softer suspension which allows it to get more weight over the rear wheels which means more power to the ground. But from a rolling start, the F6 thumps it with its huge toqrue curve. At lower speeds the Clubbie handles easier than the F6, but at medium - higher speeds the firmer suspension in the F6 allows it to out manouver the Clubbie.
At the end of the article they concluded that, and i quote "HSV picked a fight it thought it could win, and win easily. It couldn't. The Typhoon is back. Long may it reign." In the lastest Wheels mag there is an article on the safety of various cars, ranging from the toyota Hi-Ace through to a commodore executive to a holden rodeo. Basically instead of listing things like ABS and how many airbags etc etc, they put the cars on the track to see how well the cars could avoid accidents altogether. They did tests like dry braking from 100-0km/h. Wet braking from 70-0km/h, how many lateral G's a car can handle in the wet and dry and overtaking performace from 60km/h to 120km/h. The Falcon XT bested the following vehicles, in order from 15th to 3rd: Toyota Hi-Ace Holden Rodeo Toyota Prado Mitsubishi Lancer Toyota Echo Subaru Forester AWD Nissan Pulsar Toyota Camry Sportivo Holden Commodore Executive Ford Territory AWD Mazda 3 Maxx Sport Holden Astra Toyota Corolla Falcon XT Mazda6 considering a base model Falcon out-does all those other cars...it says a lot about the engineering behind the BA, or lack-of in the other cars.

i thought xt came 2nd (by .2 of a %) to the bmw 3 series. commo came in 7th. said had the xt had the same braking ability as territory it prolly would've won.
