hey has anyone been able to do anything about the suck steering lock on a xf ute.
ive seen a rack and pinion conversion in street machine, but it doesn't really overcome the steering stop position or the tyres scrubbing on the inner chassis rail. any sugestions welcome. |

nar you can't do much with it, or else it will stretch your brake hose.
i was gonna toy around with a s**t set, but didn't bother when i saw the flex that can be put on the brake hose. i haven't looked how close it comes to the inner guards, but i would think there is a bit of space to move, probably not much though. maybe you could get custom longer brake hoses? i suppose if you got the time to toy around with it, do it.

are you stopping on the lock stop or are you steering through the lock stop, not getting contact and running out of box travel? if so get that sorted out and your tyres should not scrub if done correctly. if you are not hitting the lock stops correctly eventually you will blow the bottom cap out of the box. if that is not your problem it could be that your camber and casters are not set correctly which can have the same affect, but i doubt that as i set mine with 3.5 degrees of negative camber and about 4.5 degrees of positive caster which made it handle really well. but in doing that i had to set my toe in at about 3.5-4mm in overall to stop it from wearing the edges off the tyres, it shorted the life of the tyres a bit but still wore evenly. the only other thing i think of is that your wheels may not have the right offset which can only mean one thing and that is try different wheels.
