The voltage between Pin 30 and Pin 46 is 3v with engine running, and voltage between Pin 42 and Pin 46 is 2.7v. So that's all in order, but thermos are still running for some reason. Must be a bad connection. How many times I tell ya you'd be better off with the EL ecu instead of the ED XR6 one with the BBM ? |

Yeah, well dunno about that ant... Bloody thermos are still running and I can't figure out why. I used a molex plug pin, and stuck em in pins 33 and 53. I used extra stripped wire and these poked out the ECU side of the harness so I trimmed them off so they were only poking out a couple of mm. Now I'm sure this should be making contact!!!! But I still can't get 12v out of them! Not real sure if I'm getting 12v from the BBM switching pin yet, havn't tested. But 2.7v is an alright voltage for the trans temp isn't it? This is starting to bug me lol... |

Pretty sure the BBM switching pin in the ECU actually provides ground for the solenoid - ie. the solenoid is supplied with 12V (ign on) to one wire and the other goes into the BBM pin on the ECU.
To operate my BBM Solenoid I found an empty connector near the washer bottle which got 12V with ignition on - this was a female plug which was right size to stick a standard spade connecor into - so I ran a wire with spade on that end and plugged into that 12V plug and the other end spliced to one of the wires on the BBM solenoid plug (I got the solenoid + plug with few inches of wires). Then ran another wire from the other BBM solenoid plug wire thru the firewall and to the BBM pin on the ECU. The BBM solenoid itself I mounted onto a stud sticking forward out of the firewall near the heater inlet and outlet - ie. there are a few studs that can be used I think. The solenoid itself I got not only with the plug + wire tails but also with it's mounting bracket.

Ahh that's cool, havn't really played with the BBM switching at all yet.
But I'm curious, what method did you use for connecting to the pins on the ECU? |

But I'm curious, what method did you use for connecting to the pins on the ECU? I used female Molex sockets with a couple of inches of wire connected to each - got them from old PC power supply connectors actually - but I did it the hard way - ie. all sorts of trouble getting the little buggers to fit into the back of the ECU connector - then after I'd done it all I discovered that the red part on the back of the ECU connector apparently comes off somehow and this makes fitting the Molex sockets much easier I believe.

Ahh cool, bascially same thing I did. f**k if I know why it aint working yet lol... |

No, not really I've done them and the voltages are right. BBM wire is ground when the engine is running. Havn't revved the s**t out if yet to check for 12v though lol.... |

My way, pretty similar to EL way anyway.
I can't seem to get 12v from those two thermofan outputs though. This is being measured my sticking a pin from the multimeter between either pin 33 or 53 and ground. |

As you know, with the engine at operating temp, if you short diagnosis connector pins A & B (top left and bottom left), turn ign on, put the transmission in gear (man or auto), both fans run, don't know if this is at full speed, but if it is 33 & 53 should be both earths. Hope this gives you some ideas . . . .
