Hey Guys, does anyone have specs and/or pictures of the EF Fairmont Ghia factory sub? And another quick one. With the big special cable thing with it, the Ghia sound (the desks) should go fine into a Fairmont, right? Thanky.

the sub is a pretty piss poor item..... better idea would be to forget it and get a 10 or 12" sub or two

as for the premium double din HU's....... unless you're picking them up cheaply, i'd forget it

Well the sub bit ain't that big a thing to me, just really wanted to see what the factory one looked like on the parcel shelf. I know the whole setup isn't anything great by today's standards, but I'm Mr. Stock. It would look great, match the dash and I'll be able to play CDs, so all good.

Where do I get the facia for the Ghia stereo setup?

The stock sub is an 8" IIRC paper cone. Some time ago now I fitted a Jaycar free air sub into the sub hole in my brothers' ED GLi and it sounds much better than my stock sub. You may get some problems with the cone hitting the parcel shelf carpet but you can brace it easily. I think it only cost $50 or so for the driver.

Yeah, I've decided to go aftermarket. Which of the mainstream brands our best for subs? While still being reasonable good looking? (I hate heaps of crazy chrome, etc.).

Haven't heard alot of good stuff on here about Sony, but I like the look of these two headunits, and they've got all the features. I think they'd suit the dash best compared with all the chromy look all the other brands have.

Sony CDXR3410 $349

Sony CDXR5610 $399

Only probs is the flip face to put a CD in, but I can live with that.

And why are the station buttons tiny? lol. But they clearly are the best looking HUs I've seen so far.

Have a look at the latest Alpine head units. I really like them and think I will upgrade my old one to either a CDA-7998R or a CDA-7847 in the near future. I've always had Alpine decks and I believe them to be the best units around.

Have a look here....... http://www.alpine.com.au/

Argh, I'd buy elsewhere just because of the fact they have no prices on their site! Silly I know, but still! Very annoying. Any idea on the prices of the two you mentioned.
