Ok took it to my mate and he found out that the oil leak that i have is comming from the timing chain seal.
Just wanted to know if it is a hard or expensive to get fixed? Worth taking to a mechanic? Gonna do an oil change on wednsday was thinking penrite hpr30 would that stop the leak. Good oil choice? Thanking people in advance Dyl.

Thanking people in advance Dyl. if your just going to change the timing case seal then you have to take out the radiator (this neccesary to remove the harmonic ballancer) then remove the belts and just unbolt the timing case. if your going to do the timing chain and guides as well then you will have to drop the sump also

I have heard of people removing the harmonic balancer without removing the radiator, I guess it depends on the size of the harmonic balancer puller.

removing the harmonic balancer with out takeing out radiator and removing fan,,,bloody impossible,,you can't get the balancer off without takeing the fan off and it's impossible to remove balancer with radiator still in.,,trust me i did it today and without reomoving the radiator and the fan there is no way the balancer will come off,,even with thermo fans,,,if it can be done i'd like to see it

in an ef its a piece of piss to remove your themos and the radiator.. my wife has done it before.. so it aint hard.
the belts speak for emselves.. then yeah just a balancer puller.. off she comes and the case can be done without removing the sump or anything else.

i will just say be carefull as the sump gasket may break when you pull the cover off,,if it does just use plenty of gasket goo..

I have heard of people removing the harmonic balancer without removing the radiator, I guess it depends on the size of the harmonic balancer puller. yeh in some cases the balancer can be removed by cranking the engine with a big breaker bar attached to the bolt but make sure its on properly. ive seen a few people do it this way tand the breaker bar has not been located on the nut correctly therefore causeing it too shoot out from under the car. i dont know about you but having a bar that heavy fly into my shins would be excruciating.

When I changed mine, I cranked the engine over from the starter relay. This way I could hold the breaker bar against the chassis with one hand, and keep an eye on it.

You are right, I also removed the radiator when I did mine. However as I said I have heard of people replacing the harmonic balancer without removing the radiator. I have however never seen this done.

However as I said I have heard of people replacing the harmonic balancer without removing the radiator. I have however never seen this done. i'm not doubting what you've heard but as you say,,never seen it ,and can't see how it could be done..
