I checked out my ed's harmonic balancer yesterday and it looks like there is a chunk of rubber hanging out.
i'm not sure if it's part of the old fan belt, but if the balancer is rooted, how hard is it to replace?
what's the average going rate for a new one?

From memory I paid around $90 for the one on my EA. Not that hard to replace, I found it easier to remove the radiator as I was using a fairly hefty harmonic balancer puller.

When you do change it, change the front seal also.

the front main crank seal?
it dosen't leak a drop as far as i can see.
i'll have to check it out to make sure if it's rooted.
altedxr6 - i might take you up on that offer, it's an ed. name a price.

You know that the seal runs on the Hamonic Balancer, new Balancer-new seal it make sense to change it for a few dollars extra.

You know that bloke Mr Murphy, you know he's going to make that seal leak straight after you change the harmonic balancer.

yeah i'll do the seal if i disturb it at all, i can get seals cheap as chips.
thinking about it, i will just do it if the balancer is rooted.
