rollers... what should i get. stud or shaft? which is cheaper? better? why?

am wanting twisted wedge heads or edelbrock rpms(prefer the TWs), and the TW only take yella terra shaft mount, where the edelbrock take stud or shaft.

shaft is better yeh? but also twice the price. worthit? will i be paying almost that for girdles plates etc?

ta.
jamie.

Technically stud rockers offer beter strength and stability. If you were going to race the engine and run large lift cams and high rpm etc then I would go stud but for a street engine either will be fine IMO.

While we're on the topic, what is pedestal mount?

The truth of the matter is it depends on what roller rocker you are using. A pedestal mount Yella Terra Platnium roller rocker with its large shafts and bearings is stiffer than the Crane gold race on 3/8" studs. The stud mount can be made stiffer by using longer studs and a "stud girdle" (aluminium plate that ties all of the rocker studs together and stops deflection) but then the price becomes comparable to the more expensive platnium series....
For most people who dont see the high side of 6000rpm - pedestal mount rockers will be more than sufficient.

Its the pissy bolts that hold the pedestal down. But the Stealth shaft type are o/k as they share load between inlet and exhaust rockers..
Good quality stud rockers are from $480.00

Well they come with valvetrain.. did you go for different springs? Apparently the supplied springs arent too good for >0.500" lift.

Which rockers did you go for ?

A change to Comp cams 987's will fix the floating vavle problem with cams around .550-.600" lift
