well i have bought the new guide, veranda seal, and gaskets and i am half way there to getting to this damn guide :x . this involved draining coolant, removing radiator, belt, tensioner, power steering pump, alternator, water pump, harmonic balancer and now draining the oil and unbolting the sump!!! theres a pic of the mess my engine bay is in atm.

does anyone know how much $$$ this job would cost to get done at ford or sumthin?.. just wanna see how much we're saving doing it ourselves.

Oh ok, yeah so much to remove, just to get the timing case off, dont forget to the harmonic balancer seal while ya at it, also the bottom timing guide is probably stuffed as well, i suggest think of replacing that too.

getting ford to do it would probably cost as much as the national debt

Ford would charge a lot. Might not be too bad at your local mechanic though, but do it yourself you'll still save a fair whack!

You've stripped it down to where you need to be. No point thaking it to ford now...

Are you going to pull the head and do the head gasket at the same time or drop the sump at the front?
