My EF Futura was blowing alot of smoke when I left work last night. It was about 1230am and had be raining for most of the night. ANyway car was blowing alot of smoke and stunk really bad. Workmate said he said a hint of blue which leads my to thinking it was a ring issues. How would I check?

if the valve stem seals are gone then the car will usally blow smoke on start up and until the car is warm..
rings will be a contiual smoke and a compression test is need to diag the problem

a good way to defferentiate between rings and valve stem is to do a compression test... Then add some oil in there, and do it again. If the compression is higher, its rings, if not, its stems... dunno what happens when its both.. but yeah.. this is out of the greogry's manual.
Cheers
