Why call it black then? (I didnt know it was heavier)

They are known as the "black box" as when the idea was 1st implemented in the 1950’ and made compulsory in the mid 60’s; they were black and soon changed colour as the box being black made it harder to find amongst a wrecked aircraft and ruins, they are now red..
They used to be small and fairly light in comparison, now quite heavy made of titanium and packing a lot of shielding to resist heat and other harsh elements, it takes at least two people to lift the ones out of today’s planes carefully so I’m told, obviously haven’t lifted one myself lol!
All I was saying, being no longer than a medium sized suit case and half its width whilst weighing so much; id say if your whole car was made like this, it'd be much heavier than what it is out of factory now.
That’s today’s history lesson kids.

Cheers – Oh wait! Was that a rhetorical question mate lol? :P

Thanks, yet another "pointless" tidbit I learnt from School - at the time thinking I'll never need to know about.
