I am fitting ef/el fans to my ea and as my radiator was on the way out I got an ef/el radiator so the fans would fit. PROBLEM the bottom hose is the wrong size. EA has 45mm both ends and EF/EL has 37mm both ends. As I am replacing the water pump at the same time would an EF/EL pump fit the EA and would the pully lineup with the others. This would alow me to use an EF/EL lower hose.
Any assist would be greatly appreciated. Clive

This is strange as I fitted a EF radiator into my EA I didn't have this problem.
As for changing the pump, the pump should fit the block however the pulleys on a EF are completely differant as the EF runs a serpentine belt. The Pulley on the EF pump is pressed on, not removable like the EA one.

The bottom outlet on my radiator is smaller, but the hose still stays on there fine.
If you put an EF water pump on there, you would also have to change everything else to run off the serpentine belt setup. |

Thanks for the replies.
The EF/EL rad does definitly have smaller bottor pipe. I spoke to Brendan Mock and he said the easiest way was to keep the EA rad and mount the fans as follows. The fan shroud will fit into the clips at the bottom of the rad. Forget the proper mountings at the top and fix the shroud to the metal bracket at the top of rad. He also said that somtimes the fans hit the waterpump screw peice (where the old clutch fan mounted) so cut it off with a grinder (cutting wheel). I will be taking my new Rad back for a refund and mod the old one.

Maybe the top mounting points are being moulded into all new radiator tanks. The distance between the clutch fan mount and the thermos shroud is very close. I didn't need to do any cutting, but yes it is possible that you may need to.
