Couldn't find any info on this, so i'll start a thread.
I have a 5.0 EB and am going to do the suspension soon, and would like to know what size sway bars came with the different models. I'd like to put the beefiest one on, but I'm not sure whether the utes were bigger than XR6/XR8's. If someone can post the different sizes (EA-ED), (EF-EL) AU's and BA's, and if they're interchangeable,that'd be great. Hopefully this info will help others in the future. |

AFAIK, the largest factory sway bar was that from the EL GT. Which, is also the same as the the ute of the same age. If you are going to fit a later model one, you will need to get all of the corresponding brackets/bushes. They fit no worries, Im using an EF Fairmont Ghia one in my NA. Stiffens up the handling nicely.

Is 32mm The Biggest? As Im Looking Into Upgrading My Swaybars Soon And All My Suspension Soon, Have Got Koni Adjustable Shocks, Strut Tower Brace, Looking Into Nolathane Bushes Also.

I dont know if its the biggest you can buy, but the 32mm made my car much more enjoyable, less body roll, more direct feeling etc
Im running King lows, Koni reds (f) and bilstein shocks rear. am yet to do rear swaybar, was quoted like 220 or something for a whiteline one, but will probably just settle for a XR6 item.

Remember also that I think Waggin can get deals at Whiteline for NSW members.. Not worth it for other states.

I have fitted NL Fairlane swaybars front and rear on my EBII, sits very nicely!!!!!! And it was a straight swap.

Don't know about earlier E series, but EL standard front anti-sway bars were 26mm, XR and EL Ghia come with 27mm and XH / EL GT / FBT come with 28mm AFAIK.
As Chris said, it seems to be a straight swap so that's a bonus 
My only concern with going to a whiteline 32mm is the harshness with feeling every nuance of road anomaly through the chassis...but I guess if you have superlows and a super hard shock setup, then it's probably not going to make that much difference - like most things, depends on application and how far you want to go - IMO, an EL XR or XH sway bar would suffice...I know it made quite a bit of difference when my EL wagon was fitted with an XH bar. As for rear swaybar - I don't think it's really worth it...it's all in the front setup that makes the biggest difference. Cheers, Steve |
