Ask a professional tyre fitter, its the best way to go, and its not like theyre gonna charge you!

you go go as wide as you want until they a) don't fit on the rims or b) hit your inner guards when you turn full lock.

A tyre can fit on the rim and still be unsafe/wishy washy but. Id say they'd be fairly similar to size as the standard rims on my car, EB series 1 S pack mags, and i was told a 225 would be about right. The 225 was about 200 more (good michelins) than the 215 (again, michelin) so i decided to go with th e 215. I think theyre energy mxv5 or something, and so far s eem to be a nice tyre. They wea fairly fast, but im sure that has nothing to do with the tyre, just my driving. Already replaced the fronts because i destroyed the corners on them from excessive camber, and the rears are right down now. However, ive done about 25000 on them, and the centre of the fronts still had a fair amount left. So if i slowed down, theyd last loong time

225 are about as wide as you would want, they will easily fit. Unfortunately the turbo blades are only 6.5" wide so even 225 stick out from the rim a fair bit. Anything wider than 225 on a 15" rim are fairly rare anyway and hence costly.

215-60-15 are the way to go on 6.5" rims they sit nicely and u can get some good patterns in that size also there is usually a big jump in price between 215s and 225s

I had 225/60/15's on my old turbo-blades and have recently got
EF XR mags which are half an inch wider at 7" and using the same 225 tyres. In hindsight the 225's were too wide for the turbo-blades and the car was a bit all over the shop at speed. The extra half inch now makes HEAPS of difference..........car is rock solid, running at 35psi all round. Thus I'd say....225's are too wide, too baggy for turbo-blades, stick with 215/60/15's......safer and better handling. |
