Is the steering rack on the AU series 1,2 and 3 the same as an EL monty ghia with speed sensitive steering.
I know that the BA are different.

Don't know about the AUs, but I thought all ELs had speed sensitive steering. The oil spec for the ELs is the same as AU+BA and I was told this was why. Have I been misinformed? My Mont seems to have speed sensitive steering as the steering is firmer at higher speeds.

Only the EL fairmont ghia and upwards came with speed sensitive steering. All i need to know if the AU series 1,2 or 3 are the same steering rack with speed sensitive steering.

Is the differance only in the rack? Is it possible that the previous owner may have changed the rack for a Ghia one.

The K frames in the EL and AU are very different, I would say the steering racks are not interchangable.

Wishful thinking there, SSPS on a Fairmont. Unless a previous owner has added it.

The racks are capable, and to my understanding all racks had the provision for the SSPS soleonoid.

From what I have seen, the mountings on the racks look different and not interchangable.

Well thats my question, how do I tell the differance? If the racks are the same then what would have to be added or changed to get SSPS.
