I have a problem with the front passenger door. I can only open it from the outside but not from the inside, its like the door handle is disconnected in some way.
Anyone got a clue as to what it could be and how to fix it? It's a EF Falcon Sedan. |

take the door skin off and see that the handle is still connected to the rod that opens the door from the inside, the plastic retainer connected to the handle may have broken off or something

Shouldn't need to take the door skin off...unless the connecting rod has fallen into the door. Remove the plastic cap in the door handle to expose the screw, remove that and you will probably find that broken plastic retainer... Go down to Ford spares and ask for one of those plastic door handle connecting rod clip thingies and I'm sure the guy behind the counter will know what you mean.. Hehehehe.

Let's just clarify the situation here (pics make it so much easier) the plastic cover shown below I normally pop off with a small thin flat blade screwdriver inserted into the small gap with the arrow pointing to it then a standard phillips head to whip out the screw.

Yeah I know. I told the fella to get f**k. I'm trying to get a RWC or safety cert for it, he came up with all this little bits and s**t and wanted around $400. The only other real problem I have is the rear right seat beat is stuck, its not retracting or something. They wanted close to $200 for that. |

On the seat belt side of things It's an easy job to do, I'd suggest getting a unit from a wrecker they should have heaps of rear ones.
Depending on which belt it is, I posted the pics of how they're mounted to make things a bit easier.

I would suggest some caution with seat belts from wreakers. If the seat was occupied in a crash, it may have streched and would not strech in any subsequent crash, potentially causing more injury to the occupant of that seat. That's why some insuance companies cut seat belts. Cheers. |
